Eurorack power budgets, case selection, module condition checks, and the collector dynamics of discontinued modules from Make Noise, Mutable Instruments, and others.
Why this page exists
Eurorack module listings often omit the details that matter most for buyers: power draw figures, firmware version, whether the panel knobs have been replaced, and whether the module was powered in a case with a quality regulated bus or a marginal one. An underpowered or poorly regulated bus can damage modules — and that damage is not always obvious from a listing.
The Eurorack market is also one of the few areas of music hardware where discontinuation creates genuine collector dynamics. Mutable Instruments modules released as open-source designs after discontinuation; Make Noise modules from specific production runs have sonic differences. This page covers the format, the key manufacturers, and how to assess used modules accurately.
Eurorack modules worth searching on eBay
Modules with active secondary markets and known condition variables. We earn a small commission on qualifying sales; your price is unchanged. Full disclosure.
Eurorack modules (broad)
Wide search covering all 3U format modules. Good starting point for browsing categories before searching specific manufacturers or module names.
Make Noise modules
Maths, René, Morphagene, QPAS, 0-CTRL and others. Verify firmware version on modules with update histories. Check all jacks and knobs for condition.
Mutable Instruments modules
Plaits, Clouds, Rings, Elements, Braids (discontinued). Émilie Gillet open-sourced the designs; verify modules are genuine MI production vs DIY builds. Firmware version matters significantly.
Doepfer A-100 modules
The format originators. A-110 VCO, A-124 Wasp filter, A-140 ADSR, A-150 switch and many others. Generally reliable; check all jacks and CV/gate connections are clean.
Vintage modular synth modules
Pre-Eurorack 5U/MU and Buchla format modules alongside early Eurorack. Requires format verification before buying — non-Eurorack modules are NOT compatible with standard Eurorack cases.
