How to choose a pegboard system that works for your tools, your wall, and your hook collection.
Why this page exists
The classic pegboard failure mode is buying a hardboard board, hanging it in an uninsulated garage, and watching it sag and warp within a season. Hardboard is hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture and deforms. Metal doesn't.
The second failure mode is buying a 200-piece hook assortment only to find half the hooks are too small for the pegboard's hole size, or that the hooks contact the wall because there aren't enough standoffs. These are preventable problems with five minutes of research.
