Why this page exists
The rabbit hutch market is dominated by products sized for the hutch's footprint, not for the rabbit's welfare. A hutch sold for "2 dwarf rabbits" may provide less than 3 sq ft of usable space — when welfare organizations recommend a minimum of 60 sq ft combined hutch-plus-run space for a pair of rabbits. The gap between what's sold and what's appropriate is significant.
Additionally, wire mesh floors — present in most budget hutch designs — cause a condition called sore hocks (pododermatitis) in rabbits, whose feet are not padded like many other animals.
