Terms of Service
Plain-language terms. The boring legal stuff in a form a person can actually read.
Use of this site
You may use this site for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may share calculators by linking to them. You may quote short passages with attribution.
You may not scrape this site to train AI models without permission. You may not republish the calculators on other sites. You may not present the content as your own.
Accuracy of calculators and content
I do my best to ensure the calculators produce correct results and the articles reflect honest, current information. I am one person. I make mistakes. The calculators on this site are for educational reference, not for decisions where errors have safety or financial consequences.
Examples of things you should not rely solely on this site for:
- Ammunition reloading data (always cross-check with a published manual)
- Safe lathe RPM (always derate for vibration and tool condition)
- Scuba dive planning (use a dive computer and certified training)
- Pressure canning timing (use the National Center for Home Food Preservation database)
- Any electrical, mechanical, or chemical procedure where a wrong number causes injury
No warranty
The site is provided "as is." I don't guarantee uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Use your own judgment, and consult appropriate professionals for decisions that matter.
Affiliate links
See the affiliate disclosure page for the full details. Short version: I earn commission on qualifying eBay purchases through affiliate links.
The 90% charitable commitment
When you shop through our affiliate links and a store credits us a commission, 90% of that gross commission is dedicated to the charity you selected — or, if you selected none, split evenly across our active charity slate — at the moment the commission is earned. We hold that 90% (the "Charitable Share") solely to forward it to the designated 501(c)(3). It is not our income or property beyond the obligation to remit it, and no part of it ever reverts to us. We retain the remaining 10% to operate the site, and all of our costs come out of that 10%.
The full, versioned commitment — including how and when donations are forwarded, and what happens if you don't pick a charity — is published at the 90% commitment, which forms part of these Terms.
Changes to terms
I may update these terms occasionally. The last update date will appear here when that happens. Last updated: June 2026.
