Your bad solder joints are a tool-and-flux problem, not a talent problem

Beginners who make blobby, dull, frustrating solder joints assume they lack a knack. Two unglamorous things fix the overwhelming majority of bad joints: a temperature-controlled iron and enough flux. Neither is talent.
