Soy container candles: the standard, honestly explained.

Soy wax in glass jars with cotton wicks. The category that defines the modern artisan candle market. The cheapest entry point and the most forgiving manufacturing path — if you respect the constraints.

Smooth top, centered wick, full melt pool. The visual standard that customers expect.

Why soy dominates

Soy wax (typically Golden Brands 464 or NatureWax C-3) costs $3.50-4.50 per pound in 10-pound bags. It pours at 135-150°F, sets clear of glass, accepts 8-10% fragrance load reliably, and burns clean. Customers perceive "soy" as natural and clean-burning even though the difference vs paraffin is overstated.

What soy gets you: easy manufacturing, accepted positioning, predictable burn, simple wicking. What it costs you: lower hot throw than paraffin, frost on jar walls, the "soy bloom" some customers find off-putting. None of these are dealbreakers if you know the workarounds.
