The real estate photography model
Real estate photography is the most predictable photography business model. Realtors need photos for every listing. Listings happen weekly. The same realtor uses the same photographer repeatedly. Volume + recurrence = predictable income.
| Service level | Per listing | Weekly volume | Annual revenue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic interior/exterior | $150-225 | 4-8 listings | $30k-90k |
| Standard with twilight | $250-350 | 4-8 listings | $50k-135k |
| Premium (drone, video, virtual tour) | $400-700 | 3-6 listings | $60k-200k |
| Luxury/commercial | $700-1,500 | 2-4 listings | $70k-300k+ |
The hidden advantage: real estate photography is 1.5-2 hours per shoot + 1 hour editing = 3 hours total. Compare to wedding photography's 35-65 hours. Real estate produces 4-5x the hourly rate.
